in present time, a small town detective, mourning the loss of his 16

everyone.
“Linger”
stars Scott
Schiaffo (Clerks, Vulgar,
Girls Night
Out) as Detective Mike Tobin and Trish Gonnella (The Royal
Tenenbaums, Sex in the City, The Sopranos) as Paula James,

Tobin’s investigation leads him to quickly uncover that the boyfriend,
Andre Hernandez, committed suicide a year ago when he became the prime
suspect in an attack on Paula when he was alive. So is she covering up
for the real attacker? Or did she simply feign the attack?
When
questioned, Paula claims that Andre’s ghost has been repeatedly
haunting her at the same spot in a park where he killed himself – the
very spot she was attacked again. Paula expresses the guilt she bears
for Andre’s death, believing that she allowed herself to believe that
Andre was guilty of attacking her. Tobin identifies with her, as he
bears tremendous guilt for the death of his daughter, blaming himself as
an absent father in the girl’s life.

News
of the paranormal attack hits the media, grabbing the attention of Laura
Franks, played by Marlene O'Haire (Forensic Files) a paranormal researcher, who worms her way
into Tobin’s investigation. She identifies the ghostly sightings as a
”residual
haunting,” where a spirit will regularly appear at a significant
place from its earthly life. She provides the skeptical Tobin with a
possible resolution: “You clear the kid, you might clear the
haunting.”
Tobin
sees this is a possible opportunity for redemption. Clear the kid and he
can relieve Paula of the haunting boyfriend and the guilt associated
with him. And he gets to save a teenage girl – like his daughter –
from another tragic end.
